                                                     May 2015  Track Conditions

 Shorobe to South Gate:

The road has been graded to the vet fence and on to Sankuyo, Mababe and all the way to Khwai Village. It is still bumpy and corrugated in patches to South gate

Mawana Vet Fence to Mababe Village:

Much better now that its been graded. A few corrugations starting but pretty good.

South Gate to 3rd Bridge:

Is the usual bumpy with sandy patches, 1st and 2nd Bridges are ok to cross.

3rd bridge to Xakanaxa:

Is fine, no water crossings.  After 4th bridge the road is fine.

South Gate to Xakanaxa:

Is not bad, A little Bumpy and Dusty

South Gate to Khwai (North Gate):

Same as the Xakanaxa road, fine and dusty, just watch out for the community vehicles flying up and down the road

Xakanaxa to Khwai:

The route is sandy in patches and dry. The river crossing is still there but there is also the dry route road which detours around the river crossing and joins the road at the Dombo turn off.

Khwai to Mababe Gate:

The road has been graded and there is a new bridge so one doesn’t have to do a river crossing. The road is smooth with a few washouts across, drive with care

Mababe Gate to Savuti:

After Mababe Gate most people are going right at the fork along the Mababe Depression. After about 20 km the road forks again and most people are going                       left along the sand ridge route. Some people are going right at this fork, but I have heard it is very bumpy as the Elephants walked through here last rainy                   season, so many Potholes.

Savuti to Kachikau:

There is no water on the road, just bumpy sand.

                                                                                                  Shorobe to South Gate:

The road has been graded to the vet fence and on to Sankuyo, Mababe and all the way to Khwai Village. It is still bumpy and corrugated in patches

to South gate.

Mawana Vet Fence to Mababe Village:

Much better now that its been graded, although we had some very late and heavy rains there are a few washouts across the road but in general

it is pretty smooth to drive on

                                                                                              South Gate to 3rd Bridge:

There is a fair bit of water on the road in places and some mud in areas as well. 1st and 2nd Bridges you can drive around them as there is no water there

                                                                                                     3rd bridge to Xakanaxa:

3rd Bridge to 4th bridge is fine, and then from there to Xakanaxa gate there is a lot of water on the road, so it is slow going. It is starting to dry

up a little now and turning muddy. Nice if you want to dirty your car.

                                                                                             South Gate to Xakanaxa:

There is also a lot of water on this road with mud in patches

South Gate to Khwai (North Gate):

The same as the Xakanaxa road, wet with mud in patches

Xakanaxa to Khwai:

There was a lot of water here on Easter Sunday when I travelled it. It is very slow going with some of the puddles quite deep. There will be mud now as

well so drive with care.

Khwai to Mababe Gate:

The road has been graded and there is a new bridge so one doesn’t have to do a river crossing. The road is smooth with a few washouts across, drive

with care

Mababe Gate to Savuti:

The depression is wet and muddy but driveable. The sand ridge road is the one to take as the marsh road is wet, muddy and very bad.

Savuti to Kachikau:

There is water on the road but not much mud, just bumpy.
