Botswana introduces new travel regulations to curb child trafficking

Botswana has introduced new immigration regulations concerning the cross border travels of children in an effort to curb incidents of child trafficking, APA learnt here on Tuesday.According to the Director of the Department of Immigration, Mabuse Pule, the regulations, which require minor children to travel with valid birth certificates and parental affidavits of consent, were effected on 1 June 2015.

“Anyone travelling with children 18 years and below should have the signed consent of both parents, and a valid birth certificate in order to cross the border with the child. This helps monitor the movement of children in both Botswana and South Africa” he explained.
