Anthrax Season

Hi Everyone

After attending a meeting yesterday with the Senior Wildlife Biologist for Wildlife and National Parks – Ms Zenzele Mpofu, we have been asked to please advise all Guides operating in and around the Chobe/Linyanti area to please ensure that Guides are aware that we are now in the “Anthrax or Dry Season (July – Sep)” and they should please ensure that they do not themselves or allow their clients to touch or handle any animal bones, carcasses or dead animals whilst on Game Drive with them or in/around campsite areas or walking.

If the guides do find any new or recent carcasses that do not look like predator kills, they should please ensure that these are reported as soon as possible to Zee, Tel:6250812 or Grant/Mark at Enviro 911 Cell:71224828 or at Sedudu Gate. They should please advise a time and point of reference for where they found the carcass and if possible what state it is in i.e still whole, untouched and what type of animal i.e ele, buffalo, kudu, male/female, adult/juvenile, as this will greatly help her with the research on Anthrax in Chobe National Park.

Kind Regards
